October 28, 2009 Governor Riley Comments on Meeting of Alabama, Georgia and Florida Delegations on Water Dispute MONTGOMERY - Governor Bob Riley issued the following statement about a meeting the Alabama, Florida and Georgia congressional delegations held today in Washington regarding the ongoing tri-state water dispute. Members of the three delegations emerged from the meeting saying the dispute should be resolved by the governors of the three states. I commend the delegations for meeting and for delivering this message to the three states. It is music to our ears here in Alabama because its what we have been saying repeatedly, said Governor Riley. Our side has consistently said that this matter needs to be resolved by the three governors. Were not trying to drag this out in the courts and were not trying to punt the problem to Congress. Alabama has been and remains ready to resume negotiations immediately. | |
