November 21, 2008 Governor Riley Appoints Joe Thompson as District Judge of Choctaw County MONTGOMERY - Governor Bob Riley on Friday appointed Joe H. Thompson to the position of District Judge of Choctaw County. Thompson is the Chief Assistant District Attorney in the First Judicial Circuit and a lifelong resident of Choctaw County. Joe Thompson has the right experience and background that will make him an outstanding District Judge, said Governor Riley. I am very pleased to appoint him to this important position. Thompson is filling a district judgeship formerly held by Judge Pedro Scurlock, who Governor Riley appointed to the position of Circuit Judge for the First Judicial Circuit in October. I am thankful for the confidence the Governor has placed in me and look forward to getting to work, Thompson said. I know I have big shoes to fill in replacing Judge Scurlock. Thompson graduated from the University of Alabama in 2000 and the Cumberland School of Law of Samford University in 2004. He began working as the Chief Assistant District Attorney in the First Judicial Circuit in 2005. The First Judicial Circuit includes Choctaw, Clarke and Washington counties. | |
