Statement from Governor’s Office Regarding Today’s Meeting on Jefferson County Sewer Debt Negotiations

Representatives from Jefferson County, the Governor’s office and some of the county’s creditors met for several hours in the Governor’s office. The purpose of their meeting was to continue discussions about resolving the county’s sewer debt. Although Governor Riley was not present for today’s meeting, he has been informed of its proceedings and he will continue working with all the parties to try to reach a solution.
