July 21, 2008 Governor Riley Promotes Carpooling for State Employees MONTGOMERY - With gas prices so high, Governor Bob Riley is promoting a new service that helps state employees save money by carpooling to and from work.
Commute with Company is a way state employees can find potential ride partners through a secure website maintained by the State Personnel Department. At the website, state employees complete an online application and are added to a database that matches their commuting patterns with other state employees. Participants will be able to search the database not only by location, but by department as well. The database is password protected and will be available only to those who apply.
This is a great service I hope state employees will use. It helps them combat high gas prices and reduces traffic on our roadways, said Governor Riley.
We realize that many State employees drive long distances to and from work and our goal is to help State employees find someone with whom to share their commute, said Jackie Graham, State Personnel Director.
Commute with Company is totally voluntary and free to all state employees. To participate, employees need to visit the State Personnel Departments website at www.personnel.state.al.us. | |
